If you were to utter the name Pratt & Miller in the company of even the mildest of Chevrolet fanboys, you would invoke a conversation about their long and illustrious history of GM race cars. But the one thing you will most likely not hear about is their street cars. This 2008 Chevrolet Corvette C6RS was designed and produced by Pratt & Miller as a road-going concept of the C6.R Corvette race car and is one of only eleven Corvette C6RS models they ever made.
This 2008 Corvette C6RS was originally owned by Pratt & Miller co-founder Gary Pratt until he sold it in 2017. It is also the only one of the original eleven to have a custom-built supercharged 7.0-liter LS installed under the hood. The engine was dubbed LS9-RS and based on an LS7 built by Thompson Automotive. It utilizes an LS9 supercharger, a custom-spec camshaft, and modified LS7 cylinder heads. Diamond forged pistons attached to Carrillo rods bring the combustion down to a boost-friendly 9.0:1 compression.
Additional equipment includes a Dewitt aluminum radiator and a Corsa cat-back performance exhaust system. The Tremec T56 transmission remains but it and the limited slip differential were rebuilt to handle the extra power and the single-disk OEM clutch has been swapped out for a Centerforce twin-disc clutch.
With the exception of the roof, decklid, and door panels, the body is constructed from carbon fiber and mounted over the birdcage and chassis of the 2008 Z06. It measures 1.6″ wider than a production Z06 while incorporating a C6.R-style underwing, hood, and rockers. It has been finished in the same yellow paint reminiscent of the C6.R race cars.
The Corvette C6RS front fascia also features integrated brake ducts and ram air induction as well as a front splitter. The enlarged front and rear brake ducts keep the rotors cool under heavy use and a deployable rear spoiler and a rear diffuser help keep it planted at speed.
To match the wider bodywork, center lock BBS wheels measuring 18×11-inch up front and 19×13.6-inch at the rear are wrapped in 295/30R18 and 345/30R19 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. The OEM Z06 6-piston and 4-piston brakes have been swapped out for a set of Brembo Gran Turismo brakes with 14-inch rotors up front and 13.5-inch rotors in the rear.
The Corvette C6RS rides 1.5″ lower than a stock Z06 and a computer-controlled Arvin Meritor Dynamic Height Control air ride suspension system with shocks custom-tuned by Pratt & Miller can lower or raise the car by another inch as needed.
The cabin features custom-made bucket seats upholstered in hand-stitched black and tan leather that extends to the dashboard and door panels and approximately 80 pounds of Dynamat sound insulation lines the doors and floors. Other additions include touchscreen navigation, a short-throw shifter, and carbon-fiber trim accompanying the C6RS-embroidered dashboard, head restraints, and floor mats.
The three-spoke OEM steering wheel has been rewrapped in leather and micro-suede and the gauge cluster has been re-faced in a custom silver C6RS and Pratt & Miller display. The odometer reads roughly fourteen thousand miles, almost all of which were put on by Gary Pratt himself.
This Corvette C6RS is currently up for sale on Bring A Trailer and bidding is scheduled to end later today, with bidding already reaching over $165,000 with less than a day to go, this rare Corvette is going to go for good money to a buyer that appreciates the rarity as well as the name and legacy of Pratt & Miller.
