We discovered something pretty dang awesome at this year’s SEMA show. Sure, there were tons of awesome cars, cool new parts and pieces for our project cars and well, lot’s of very lovely ladies showing off their…wares. But, what was so awesome wasn’t something that we saw, but something we learned: Mopar’s new management has finally opened up the flood gates for licensing aftermarket parts.
While this might sounds like anything earth shattering, what it means for us Mopar lovers is a LOT more aftermarket parts, both restorative and performance-related. There was a time not too long ago when replacing your ’68 Coronet’s grille would require scouring the Internet for weeks on end or hoofing through row after row of swap meet aisles just to find one a little less weathered a cracked as yours.
Sitting down to talk to restoration products extraordinaire, Trim Parts, we learned how befriending Chrysler’s new licensing department has been. Trim Parts, who have been a staple of GM restorers for decades, is now ramping up its Mopar line. Trim Parts’ catalog of Chevrolet, Pontiac and GMC parts and pieces is extensive, and enough to rebuild your GTO or El Camino from the ground up.
Knowing this, we’re elated to see what Trim Parts has in the hopper for Dodge and Plymouth. Even with the ink drying on their official Mopar Authentic Restoration Product license, Trim Parts has already cranked out several kinds of molded carpet kits for everything from A- through E-Bodies, as well as late models and even trucks!
Of course, as you might expect, Trim Parts has a burgeoning line of emblems, door handles, interior brims, turn signals, interior trim, sill panels, and even a cool line of individual placement numbers, ideal for showing off the cubic inch size of your custom-build stroker plant!
