Many of us grew up having to share with our brothers. Everything from clothing, bikes, and sleeping quarters got passed around in our households. Somewhere, in the midst of working out the various DMZs between us and them, we learned how to settle disputes, and even how to get along later in life.
Brothers JJ and Pierre Petersen have not only figured out how to get along, they’ve also learned how sharing can actually get them to places where they could never go alone. To do just that, they’ve acquired this 1972 Corvette from an ad on the Internet, sight-unseen, and decided to experience the open road together in it — beginning with the journey home in the car.
Hagerty recently highlighted this duet band-of-brothers in a series they’ve titled, “Why I Drive.” As you can imagine, the duo didn’t have to overcome a past history of fighting, but instead, they attest that they’ve always gotten along. A trait that comes in handy when saddled-up beside someone in the limited confines of a C3 Corvette.
The car has more rattles than a baby can play with, drinks gas for a living, and shakes when you take her above 80 mph. – Pierre Petersen
The brothers have obviously worked out the sharing trait also, as they reportedly take turns wielding the wheel when they get the opportunity. While some might question the sanity of joining one car to two different views or opinions, both brothers explain that their dual ownership serves to help illustrate how solid the relationship is between the two siblings.
The two seem more interested in driving the car than fussing over it on a show field or similar event, and we can surely appreciate that! They also don’t appear to have any grand opinions of the car itself. The one brother put it rather succinctly, “The car has more rattles than a baby can play with, drinks gas for a living, and shakes when you take her above 80 mph. Yet, I’ve never been more in love with an inanimate object!”
Many enthusiasts can relate, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. Check out the video link, and if you’ve got a similar story, feel free to let us know in the comments section below. We’d love to hear it!
