There are of course cases of gross mismatching between a V8-powered pickup and a 4-banger economy car, but in general, any time a truck can beat a relatively powerful passenger car, it’s reason to get curious. After all, it’s not easy to get the weight of a brick-hauler moving quicker than a car. So how do you overcome the weight (and the inherent aerodynamic) difference? With horsepower. Lots and lots of unadulterated horsepower.

The guys over at 1320 Video were in the house down at the Lonestar Motorsports Park filming the action of TX2K13, the once all-Supra festival that’s now turned into a national must-see event in the Houston area for the baddest domestic and foreign street cars in the country who all converge for drag racing and autocross supremacy, along with plenty of extracurricular activities on the street that we’ll pretend not to know about.

The guys were able to grab a clip and an interview with the owner and driver of this badass Dodge Ram pickup truck that produces an astounding 1,185 horsepower and a jaw-dropping 1,900 ft-lbs of torque from its Nitrous Express nitrous oxide-fed diesel powerplant that has a single 75mm turbocharger feeding it the boost that any self-respecting diesel engine loves to gobble up.

Despite its size, all of that power and torque is enough to push this big Ram into the 11-second zone and pretty well demoralize a newer model, supercharged Dodge Viper on the track. Now, to be fair, the driver of the Viper limped the car out of the gate and let the truck get a lead, but even at full song further down track, the big diesel is clearly still pulling away as it trails a long black veil of diesel fumes behind it.

At the finish line, the Ram actually runs an 11.07 elapsed time — just a hop and a skip from the 10-second zone — at 120.32 mph. THAT, ladies and gentleman, is impressive.
