There have been tests done, competitions won and most recently an impressive test lap completed on video in the new production Camaro ZL1, and the model hasn’t even hit dealerships yet. But that doesn’t stop us from falling in love with the potent Camaro even more every time we see it and this latest video we found on YouTube is no different. In fact, we didn’t just fall deeper in love with the car after this 25-second burnout, we fell head-over-heels again for the boisterous muscle car. Check out the video above to see what we mean.
There should be no doubt in your mind that the new Camaro ZL1 is impressive. Carrying on its heritage well, the 1969-inspired model packs quite the punch with 580 ponies under the hood and 556 foot-pounds of torque. Add that to performance handling at the hands of GM’s Magnetic Ride Control suspension and Performance Traction Management system, and you’ve got yourself one hell of a muscle car in the corners and in the straight-aways.
Nothing shows the performance of a car like the ZL1 like a big, fat, smoky burnout. Sure, road courses like the Grand West Course of Virginia International Raceway (VIR) prove a lot of things about performance, as do runs on the drag strip, but no one can deny the sheer delight of seeing a high-performance car burning some rubber.
That’s exactly what happened at a ZL1 media event held at VIR the last week of February. In front of a crowd of the top names in automotive publications, the ZL1 was showcased in many ways, including the butterfly-inducing burnout you see above.
Among those that attended the event was our very own LSXMAG and CorvetteOnline editor, Paul Huizenga, but you’ll have to stay tuned to hear about his experience at the event soon. For now, enjoy one mighty burnout by the most powerful production Camaro ever built.
