Barn finds are out there, though rarer than most of us would like, but very rarely do you come across a vintage classic so well maintained and original as this one. It is a 1955 Chevy Belair Nomad with its original paint, original interior, and even its original drivetrain. The only thing not original are the glasspack mufflers. Check out this unique factory-original car in the video above, compliments of boingboing.net.
The car is owned by automotive enthusiast Justin Pinchot, who recently picked up the car from the family that bought the car new and then put it in storage back in 1974. That means Pinchot is just the third owner of the Nomad with the first two owners being father and son. On the odometer are just over 87,000 original miles.
With a straight body still coated in original Regal Turquoise and India Ivory paint, factory 265ci Chevy V8 under the hood, stock 2-speed cast iron powerglide automatic transmission and a complete factory interior with working lights and clock, this Nomad is as clean as a whistle. And with just over 8,000 of the model ever built, it’s probably one of only a handful that is factory original.
Nicknamed Maddie, the two-door Nomad will be refreshed a bit before Pinchot gets too much use out of her, but chances are she’ll be kept as original as possible to maintain her historic value.
Would you want a factory-original classic like this or do you prefer something a bit more modified?
