We love bringing you hot rods from around the world. While cool cars are almost commonplace for us here in the USA, they’re less so in many other parts of the world. That makes those rides that much cooler both to their owners, fans, and maybe even to us.
We’ve heard for years that Australia has a huge car culture. With a love of rods, customs and horsepower, just like we have here in the States there’s bound to be some wicked rides down under. We recently came across this video highlighting some of these cars at an Australian hot rod show.
Not only is it cool to check out what people on the other side of the world are doing, but also to see that many of the cars are similar in style to what we’re doing here. We couldn’t get over the number of references to Southern California, as the Australian builders are clearly paying homage to their hot rod roots – including a So-Cal Speed surfboard on one car, and a California license plate on another.
Despite the similarities, we still had to do a double take every time we saw an interior shot with the steering wheel on the right hand side.
The video features a little bit of everything, flatheads, small-block Ford and Chevy power, roadsters, coupes, woodies, and sleds. Any of these look like what can be found at any cruise night here in the USA, and that is very cool indeed. We’ve said before that a love for horsepower and rodding knows no borders, language, or culture. At the end of the day that might just be one of the coolest things about our hobby and our passion.
