Installing a new component on your first-generation Camaro can be an exciting time, but if parts don’t function correctly the first time around, the installation process can become frustrating rather quickly. Luckily, if you’re installing new components from Detroit Speed, their extensive series of tech videos is here to help. Check out the helpful troubleshooting tips that DSE has in their latest tech installment for the RS Headlight Kit above.
Whether you’re looking for a guide for installation or troubleshooting tips, DSE has you covered. In the latest tech video uploaded by the industry leader, Sales Associate and Tech Engineer Dan Oddy walks you through a helpful troubleshooting process for issues with the DSE RS Headlight Kit for 1968 and 1969 RS Camaros.
The DSR RS Headlight Kit converts the factory vacuum actuated headlight door system to an electrical system.
This not only allows your headlight doors to function more reliably and smoothly than with the vacuum actuated system, it also does away with all the bulky components needed to run the vacuum door assemblies. The kit can also be used to upgrade your non-RS Camaro with hideaway headlights, in Camaros with low vacuum signals or cars with large cams for the benefits of perfectly working hide-away headlamps.
During the installation of this kit, there are a few things you need to be on the lookout for, including non-working assemblies, sticking doors and slow actuation.
DSE covers all of these issues in their troubleshooting video, instructing you to do simple tasks to narrow down the problem and fix it.
With the simple installation of the DSE RS Headlight Kit, and other DSE products, you can convert your early F-body into a more highly functional piece of equipment all the way around. If you have issues with the installation, look to the DSE tech series for installation and troubleshooting help.
