The folks who build sleepers live and breathe the old phrase, “Don’t judge a book by its cover.” Making a car look one way but perform in an entirely different way is par for the course, and those who would doubt and bash such a vehicle very quickly learn to watch their mouths before it gets them in trouble again.

Meanwhile, it’s the owners of sleepers who, fittingly, sleep soundly at night, knowing their ride can blow the pants off just about anything they come across on the street. One such owner is now putting up his wolf in sheep’s clothing up for sale on eBay, and rest assured, it’s no slouch.

Having aged quite well, all things considered, this 1955 Chevrolet C10 has undergone a stealthy transformation and emerged five times what it once was. Given a slammed posture and healthy 350 cubic-inch V8, the pickup now channels well over 300 horsepower through a 700R4 transmission to a Chevelle rearend, and rides like a dream thanks to urethane bushings and ball joints, as well as a rear air bag suspension setup–and let’s not forget the custom leather Hummer seats.

The old dial-controlled radio–assuming this truck had one–has been swapped out for some modern-day entertainment, allowing iPhone users to hook up and mount their handheld to the ashtray for tunes that blast out of the underseat amp. Pick a playlist and enjoy a cruise to the diner or show ‘n shine, or wherever you want to go; with over 300 miles under its belt in the current setup, the seller assures us that the C10 won’t need any TLC for the foreseeable future.
