There are a lot of mediocre car videos on the internet – thanks to the ubiquity of smartphones with halfway decent video recording capabilities, everyone is now empowered to shoot footage of their ride and upload it for the world to see, but not everyone has the chops to make it beautiful or interesting. Without even getting into the subject of vertical video, let’s just say that while we scour the web for videos worth sharing with you, we come across a lot of unwatchable trash.
Finding a video like this one, though, is like a cool drink of water in a shady oasis after crossing the YouTube desert. It shows how to take an interesting subject (in this case a 1969 Camaro powered by a 6-liter LS with twin 62mm PT6262 turbochargers) and make it better with good videography.
We get to see the Camaro at rest, linger on the details of the car like the 13-coat paintjob and custom lowered suspension, and then see it in action where the twin turbo powerplant lets the driver haze the tires at will.
According to the owner, on the dyno running E85 and with boost limited to 19 PSI via the dual Turbosmart wastegates, the car produced 840 horsepower to the wheels. On the street, he runs 23 PSI and estimates more than 900 to the wheels, and something like 1,100 at the crank. Whatever the actual number is, to paraphrase Rolls Royce, we’d say it is “sufficient.”
In the comments on YouTube, we’re promised more video to come this summer. If it’s the same quality as this, we can hardly wait…
