Everything’s better in twos. Popsicles, candy bars, women (we’re all red-blooded men here, right?), it’s all good when it comes as one, but it’s ten times better when there’s a partner involved. That’s kind of the thinking behind these new shocks made by QA1 in league with Hollywood Hot Rods, the premier hot rod shop situated in Burbank, California.
QA1 President Melissa Scoles is excited about the team-up. “Troy [Ladd] has been great to work with. His expertise as an award-winning street rod builder has been invaluable as we worked together to design this new series of shocks.”
Troy Ladd, the leader of HHR, has a background in kustom kulture that lent itself well to the creation of the new shock absorbers, which bear the name of Ladd’s influence as the new Hollywood Hot Rods Series shocks. We recently spotlighted Ladd’s bare metal beauties that went to the Grand National Roadster Show in January, and much of the innovation and intrigue that went into those cars can be felt in these fresh suspension parts for classy kustoms.
Enthusiasts will be smart to note the shocks’ appearance, which adopts a smooth body on the front. The rears, meanwhile, feature a threaded body that offers ride height adjustability. All are made of chrome-plated aluminum for a look that’s ready for any car show, and sport low-profile, slot-style knobs let users choose from 36 settings of rebound adjustment.
“Traditionally, hot rod shocks on the market are valved one way, and unless you have something custom made, how can you expect it to work properly on your unique vehicle?” said Troy. “The Hollywood Hot Rods® Series shocks offer the perfect look and performance adjustability.”
