How important is it for your parts to be made in the United States of America? Most things we use and consume are made off-shore, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. But when you’re restoring a classic car that was originally 100% made in the USA, it’s nice to put as many American made parts back on as possible.
Enter CARS Inc., a Michigan based company. They manufacture and sell parts for our beloved Chevrolets – everything from a ’55 Bel Air to a ’70 Chevelle. Everything they make for these timeless classics is made at their facilities in Rochester, MI, not too far away from where they were originally made.
The video is a tour of their facilities, where they start by showing off their showroom, which encompasses over 15,000 sq. ft. of space. Into the main warehouse they go, which is 50,000 sq. ft. of automotive goodness.
Walking around their facility, they show off one thing they are most proud of – interiors. At CARS Inc., they make all of their interiors in house. This includes all the cutting, sewing and even the die-electric processing. This is where two pieces of material are essentially welded together. In short, they are heated and melted together, without melting through the material. This is a very precise process, and how it was done from the factory. Definitely not a process you would find at your local upholstery shop.
Another impressive spot in their warehouse is the massive selection of NOS material. This is all brand new, unused fabric that came straight from General Motors. If you’re looking for that unique piece of fabric that is no longer made, they just might have it sitting on the shelf!
If you need any parts for your Chevy, make sure to give them a call and order up a catalog!
