“Epic” is a word that is overused too often these days. The proper definition of “epic” is “noting or pertaining to a long poetic composition usually centered upon a hero.” Of course, as modern language is a master of butchering classic linguistics, epic has now come to define anything remotely “cool.”
However, this recently released beer commercial for Hahn Super Dry may fit the proper definition of epic, as it follows the awesome journey of Hahn’s beer from start to finish. Even better? It features a DeLorean monster truck, which was the only way we could justify writing about this awesome commercial.
We won’t spoil the commercial for you, but some of the highlights of the brew’s journey from hops to liquid includes being pounded by Amazonian women, traveling through a tunnel of classic Bruce Lee footage, as well as a brief foray into a drum set. The DeLorean monster truck pops in, briefly, around the 30 second mark., which made us wonder…is such a beast real?
Yes, as it turns out, it is. Rich W., a self-proclaimed DeLorean enthusiast, created what he calls the “D-Rex” about a decade ago. We’re not sure if it is the same car as in the Hahn’s commercial, but a real DeLorean monster truck does exist, and it is built on a K5 Blazer platform. Power comes from a 350 Chevy engine and yes, it does drive, having been in several parades already.
So now that we know that the DeLorean monster truck is real, and pretty much everything else about this commercial is fake, which do you think is more epic? The DeLorean, or the beer commercial?
