With the final season of Breaking Bad coming to a close, the actors of the hit AMC drama now find themselves needing new projects to work on. For Aaron Paul, AKA Jesse Pinkman, his next move takes him from the small screen to the big screen as the star of the Need For Speed movie coming out next March. We’ve already heard a lot about the project and the Shelby GT500 Mustang at the heart of it, and now we finally have the first official trailer for the fast-driving cinema blockbuster.
After watching the video, we’re not sure where we stand on the whole thing, and that’s where you come in. Does this trailer make you want to see the movie more, or less?
Some critics are already knocking the trailer for taking itself far too seriously. It is after all a movie about illegal cross-country street races (hardly the most unique premise, but that’s besides the point). Paul’s character plays a former bad-guy-gone-straight who finds himself once again dragged into a world of questionable ethics and broken laws.
It should be a familiar fit for the young actor, and the movie itself looks and feels quite familiar too. We can’t help but be reminded of the Fast and Furious series, which many critics initially laughed off. Seven movies later, and the only people laughing are Vin Diesel and Paul walker. After watching this trailer, do you see potential for six more movies? Or could this movie be the end of not just the Need For Speed movie franchise hopes, but the video game as well?
