According to The Internet, each year 180 million Valentine’s Day cards are exchanged (85% of which are bought by women) and 198 million roses are produced (73% bought by men, and 14% by women for themselves). We spend an average of $116.21 each, and 53% of women say that they would end their relationship if they didn’t get at least SOMETHING on Valentine’s day.
Valentine Fun Fact!
In Japan, Valentine’s day is celebrated in a unique way – instead of couples exchanging gifts, women present gifts to men, mostly in the form of chocolate. There are two kinds of gifts as well. For your coworkers, friends, and boss, there is “giri-choco” (“obligation chocolate”) while you give those you are romantically involved with “honmei-choco,” which is often hand-made.
One month later, Japanese men reciprocate with “White Day” gifts (typically white chocolate, flowers, and other candies) on March 14th, better known in the US as “Steak and [expletive] Day.”
In the video above, we see a couple both imagining what a perfect Valentine’s Day spent with their true love would look like, but even though they are both car lovers, unfortunately their plans don’t quite line up.
