The internet is riddled with videos of burnouts in parking lots, drag strips, competitions and city streets. It is rarer to find a video of enthusiasts burning out on a highway or interstate, but as Spohn Performance showed with one of their Facebook posts last week, it is done. Is it a bit more dangerous? Of course, but it sure makes for good YouTube footage.
The video features a modified ‘99 Camaro SS burning rubber on what looks to be a highway in a different country. According to the information associated with the video, the SS has 460rwhp thanks to full bolt-ons, heads and an upgraded camshaft, as well as 4.11 rear end gears.
Starting in third, the Camaro quickly creates tire smoke as you initially see the view from the interior of the car. Later in the video you see the burnout in its entirety from above on an overpass. With plenty of power, the Camaro has no problem laying down thick lines of rubber for a stretch of highway before he accelerates out of the burnout and takes off down the road.
While there weren’t any cars around as the burnout was taking place, we can’t imagine what the people driving into the cloud of smoke with black tire streaks on the road were thinking immediately after. The people filming the burnout eventually make it down off the overpass and shoot the burnout tracks as they drive by.
While we don’t recommend this insanity, it is kind of funny to watch. For a bit of work-day entertainment, take a look at this crazy burnout video. We’ll leave it to roadway antics to put a smile on your face.
