We shouldn’t have to remind you that drinking and driving is a terrible combination that can result in injury or death. But wrenching on cars and drinking? That’s a legal, time-honored tradition in America, and many a garage has been filled with empty bottles and beer cans after a long night of trying to fix whatever is (or isn’t) broken. And is there any drink more American than whiskey? We would argue there is not.
The Macallan Distillery in Scotland knows a thing or two about whiskey, and together with sunglasses maker Oakley, they’ve developed The Flask. This purportedly indestructible liquor container to hold your high-quality scotch (or bourbon, the most American of whiskeys) without fear of the contents escaping.
To prove how durable The Flask is, Macallan enlisted a fleet of high-powered performance cars to perform an array of tests, with creative names like the Punt, the Yank, and the Drift. It’s as clever as marketing campaigns go, and with over 385,000 hits in just over a month, we’d say this campaign definitely hit its mark. Made from aluminum, carbon fiber, and other tough materials, the Flask is certainly up to the torment this video puts it through.
And no wonder, with the Flask being flung about by cars like the supercharged Ford GT, a Mercedes SLS AMG (you know, the gullwing Merc), and a classic Ford hot rod. Our favorite “test” however was the “Refuel”, involving a Shelby Cobra replica and a helicopter. We’ll let you figure out why they called it that after watching the video, something you should definitely do if you’ve made it this far into the article. Yup, we kind of want one now too…except the Flask costs over $900. Well, what did you expect?
