Video: The Crusty Nova Takes On 1,100 Horsepower GT-R In Roll Race

You may have seen the Crusty Nova campaigning in last year’s Drag Week competition, or you might have seen the famous burnout video with the trailer attached that went completely viral a while ago. Recently, The Crusty Nova ventured into new territory – roll racing.

The owner of The Crusty Nova drove 250 miles from Branson, Missouri, to race against one of the 1320 Video crew’s friends, Curtis, who happens to own a Nissan GT-R with a BoostLogic BLGTR 1100 package and a ShepTrans-built transmission with billet gears. It’s quite the monster.

Since the last time The Crusty Nova was seen in the public eye, it has had some major upgrades which includes a 400 ci Dart LS Next block, LS7 heads built by LME, and twin Tial 67-mm turbochargers. Quite the sleeper build if you ask us! We also really like how the intakes that come off of the turbos are incorporated into the inner fender; it’s very trick.

Being that it’s The Crusty Nova’s first time roll racing, a test pass was in order to get a feel for how the race will actually feel, compared to a dig race. After the test run, The Crusty Nova and the 1,100 horsepower GT-R line up and they’re sent on their way down the track. The GT-R did jump from the beginning, but unfortunately there wasn’t enough track for The Crusty Nova to overtake the Nissan. It did sound like The Crusty Nova’s driver ramped onto the throttle pretty slowly, most likely to avoid wheelspin, and possibly wrecking.

However, if this was a half-mile roll race, The Crusty Nova would’ve scored the victory, no questions (presuming he had enough gear, that is.) He was right at the GT-R’s door when they crossed the finish line, and carried more MPH through the traps. Hopefully we’ll see a good rematch soon!
