Ahh yes, more Holden love! The Holden VL Calais in the video shreds tires like no other we’ve seen.
Thanks to Fullboost, we get to watch all of the smokey action from the comfort of our cubicle, although we’d rather be out in Australia witnessing these badass Holdens in person. You may remember the story we did on another tire-shredding Holden Ute that goes by the name of GHETTO. Well, this rubber-destroying VL Calais was filmed at the same Easter Car Mania 2 event a few weeks back. Man, how we wish we could’ve been there.
Under the hood of this VL Calais sits a 6.0-liter LS engine (we’re guessing it’s an LQ9, but we could be wrong) with forged internals that makes 600 horsepower. Jutting through the hood (if it’s on) is a 6-71 Weiand supercharger mounted to a Holley Hi-Ram intake manifold. That was one of the first things we noticed about this VL Calais. The 6-71 blower just looks bizarre on top of the Holley Hi-Ram manifold, but it’s a pretty cool idea. Power makes its way to the rearend via a TH400 transmission and 9-inch differential. The rear of the car is tubbed to fit bigger tires under the arches as well.
We love seeing all the car being hucked around within the provided space they’re given for the burnouts, and you know the driver is going hard once the two rear tires completely disintegrate and fly off of the wheels. We hope to see more action from Easter Car Mania 2 from Fullboost very soon!
