If you’re a fan of rear-wheel drive, then we’re willing to bet you’ve burned your fair share of rubber. Spinning your tires is one thing though; dedicating your car and risking your life to deliver the “ultimate” burnout? That’s a lifestyle, an oddly popular one in Australia. We’ve seen hundred-thousand dollar machines light fields on fire with their tire shredding, but this next video goes beyond some simple bush burning.
Scotty’s Garage captured this insane (and insanely dangerous) burnout in an orange Holden ute owned by Justen Brown. It takes a special kind of crazy person to enthusiastically cheer as his pride and joy burns down before him.
This ritualistic burning of the orange ute took place at Mallala Motor Sport Park, in Mallala, Australia, in the very south of Oz. We imagine being that close to the daunting Outback, there isn’t much to do besides drink and do burnouts. So when Brown got his chance to do a burnout in front of a crowd, he didn’t waste it.
Instead he torched his tires until they caught on fire, and then he kept going. The fire spread to the undercarriage, but Brown still didn’t stop, even as the whole back half of his Holden went up in flames. Eventually, Brown did stop, cheering wildly as the fire crew rushed to put the inferno out.
You’d think after something like that, Brown’s day would be done. But after the fires were extinguished, he was back on the burnout pad, his supercharged Holden turning rubber to rubbish once more.
You win this round, Australia.
