Two weeks ago Travis Barker, famed drummer and founder of the Famous Stars and Straps apparel brand announced the winner and recipient of his ’65 Cadillac Coupe DeVille. Nando of Visalia, California was greeted by Travis, his two children, the ’65, and of course some press at the local Tilly’s store.
Travis and his long time partners at Tilly’s came up with the idea for the giveaway last year. During an interview on Los Angeles radio station, Power 106, Travis expressed his motivation behind the giveaway, “Tilly’s has been a partner for years since I started the brand. Every year we try to do something with them, other brands have activated with them and done some marketing stuff where they just give away cash. For us, we wanted something that bleeds the brand. We’re car heads at Famous.”
After a marketing meeting, Travis suggested the idea of giving away his ’65 Cadillac that was in the middle of being built at Hillview Customs, a family owned and operated shop in Lake Elsinore, California that specializes in Cadillac restoration.
The ’65 features a 472 big block motor, Supreme Wheels with Vogue Tires, “Copper Penny” paint by House of Kolor accented by custom flake and lace panels, dual exhaust with glass packs, and a gorgeous custom cream interior.
Travis is certainly not just a celebrity with a fickle interest in cars, he’s had a longtime interest in Cadillac’s that’s rooted in his father’s love for them, “I bought my first one from seeing my father’s and seeing how much pride he had in that car. I had this crazy perception of Cadillac that it was just the most luxurious, best, and biggest car ever. When my friends were going ‘I want a Porsche, I want a Ferrari,’ I was thinking, ‘man, I want a Cadillac.’”
