Many car enthusiasts who are hard-wired to the hobby will tell you: when I die, I want to have a procession of musclecars. Some celebrities have even been quoted as saying that if they die going fast in a car, they died doing what they love. But what if that need for speed could continue posthumously?
While we’ve seen videos of a casket in a truck that’s doing a burnout, thus carrying out their loved ones last request, and friends doing burnouts in honor of the deceased, what we found on YouTube takes the final wish to the next level. How would you like to take your last ride down the 1320 while strapped in the back of a hearse?
Arne Toman, Vice President has come up with an idea that mixes his love for drag racing and his passion for Iron Maiden. Toman has built the “World’s Fastest Hearse” and named in “Madness” in honor of Iron Maiden. Just how fast can this turbocharged hearse get your body to the cemetery? It’s closing out the 1320 in about 9.94 seconds at 137 mph, and hits 60 mph in 2.26 seconds.
For those who live their lives “ten seconds at a time” and want to maintain that philosophy in their afterlife, this 1996 Caprice will take you and your final resting place in a hurry. Initially generating 1,000 horsepower with a 6.0L turbocharged engine, Toman was aiming to hold a record. When he began his build there was already a car hitting the traps at 10 seconds, but he wanted to go faster. Now with 1,300 horsepower he’s taken the record and hopes to eventually bury it. Pardon the pun.
