The subtitle of this video should be: Guy Almost Lights Himself On Fire. While we here at ChevyHardcore.com obviously think it’s ultimately the right thing to work on your own car, “safe and sane” is one of our mottos. This video seen above, however, is the perfect example of all the things that can go wrong and can be done wrong. This is one of those times when the guy probably should have hired a mechanic.
Found on CarBuzz.com, the video shows the guy working on a V-8 powered Miata. We are not even so sure that the concept of shoehorning a small-block Chevy V-8 into a Mazda Miata is all that great an idea. Although it might be fun to see what that kind of power would be like in a small car like a Miata, we remember what the torque steer was like in the Ford 260 ci or 289 ci V-8 powered Sunbeam Tigers. Fun and frightening are good words for it!
However, for this guy in the video, as you all can plainly see, his mechanical skill as well as his common sense are not exactly all that is missing. It seems that there is a leak in the fuel line somewhere that he has missed, too. Because the minute he tries to start up the newly transplanted engine a small fire erupts. Our favorite part of this rather spooky video is that his first instinct is to attempt to blow out the fire. Huh?
