Andy Warren has been around the Nostalgia Racing scene for a while now. His 1971 Chevy Caprice is pretty well known in NMCA circles and is a fan favorite with its amazing, wheel lifting launches. Warren, who has twice been the National Champion in NMCA’s Nostalgia Muscle Car Class continually works to improve the car and just finished a major rebuild, but not quite in time for Bradenton.

“I’ve had the car since 1994 and have raced it from day one. Some how it had managed to get 4 seconds faster over the years,” Warren explained about the car. “I really hope I can get some 10.30s out of it. Got it down to 3750 with me in it.”

A big part of this season’s prep was installing a new Knieriem engine. The 427 small block is fired with a complete MSD Ignition system including a 7AL-2, 8.5mm Wires, Pro-Billet Distributor and HVC Coil.

“I got with MSD Ignition to figure out what ignition box and coil would be ideal for the type of racing I will be doing. I was curious about the digital type boxes, but for the type of Nostalgia racing I do that would be a little over kill. We decided to go with the 7AL2 Plus ignition box and HVC coil. It’s a pretty basic package, and right up my alley. It gives me the option of a built in 2-step for when I’ll be using the transbrake during the 6.50 index races,” he continued.

On a recent test night, Warren was pleased to bring home a time slip with a 10.405 @ 127.56 on it. Check out the video below for yourself. It must be awesome to see that Caprice at the track.
