Centrifugal superchargers have become an extremely popular power-adder thanks to their ability to generate a lot of horsepower, and the small amount of space they take up under the hood of a vehicle. Vortech Superchargers has refined one of its most popular kits for the small-block Chevy engine so it will make more power while allowing you to keep your air conditioning and power steering.

The backbone of Vortech’s small-block Chevy supercharger kit is the V-3 Si trim head unit. This supercharger is capable of helping a small-block Chevy generate up to 775 horsepower while using a 10-rib belt drive assembly. This new kit has a much smaller footprint than the previous ones offered by Vortech. Since it’s so much smaller, it allows for better fitment and more hood clearance for most applications.

According to Brian Cox from Vortech, one of the main goals with this new kit was to make sure anyone with some mechanical skills and the right tools could install it at home.

“Auto enthusiasts with average mechanical abilities and a decent set of tools would be able to install the small-block Chevy supercharger system in the four to six-hour installation time noted in the directions. Pre-planning to have the specific parts listed in the instructions that work in conjunction with this kit is critical. It’s important to have any additional parts needed for the A/C and power steering as noted in directions, that will certainly aid with the ease of the system’s install.”

“Since most of the typical small-block Chevy engine builds would fall into the 450-750 horsepower range, we see these now boosted engines working great at the track. This kit is geared toward the NMCA True Street racer, and Drag Week’s Street Race Small Block Power Adder class. Bracket racers could also use this kit if they want to add more power to their engine package.
