We’re strong believers in the axiom that form follows function. This is especially true when it comes to sport luxury cars like the 2^nd gen CTS-V. It already has stellar power from the supercharged LSA, great handling, and attractive yet functional styling. Adding power is the easy part, and there are plenty of upgrades you can make for better handling and braking, but the CTS-V’s styling is one of those areas where it might be best to take the “if it doesn’t function, it doesn’t belong” stance.   

However, there are a few modifications that can improve both the function and the styling at the same time. Take for example this awesome CTS-V wagon we recently stumbled across on eGarage. The already very functional CTS-V wagon is sporting a wide-body conversion from Canepa which consists of front and rear fender flares, front and rear spoilers, and side skirts. The Canepa wide-body kit really brings out the best in the CTS-V’s forceful styling, but kicks the aggressiveness to the next level without looking hokey.

So where does the function part of the equation come in? The main function of those extra few inches outside the fenders is to allow for wider wheels and tires in both the front and back. More tread equals more grip, and more grip means better control of all 500 plus horsepower. From our point of view, the more assertive stance is just a positive side effect.
