Yenko Deuce Heading to Mecum Spring Classic Auction Next Month

Few cars carry the reputation of a Yenko Chevrolet. These timeless pieces of automotive artwork have thrilled generations, bringing performance to the muscle car market superior to anything that Chevy offered direct from the factory back in the late 60s and early 70s. Essentially, Yenkos were the cars that Chevy should have built.

Rightfully so, Yenko-modified Chevrolets are now highly sought after and recognized as enduring pieces of automotive history. Collectors and automotive enthusiasts alike then will be thrilled to find out that an extremely clean 1970 Yenko Deuce Nova will be heading to the Dana Mecum’s 25th Original Spring Classic Auction in just a couple weeks.

The Yenko Deuce set to hit Mecum on May 18th is an original Yenko numbers-matching car. Complete with its 350ci. LT-1 V8 engine ordered under COPO 9010 rather than the base 250hp L65 engine, the Nova boasts 360hp.

In true Yenko fashion, the car is also complete with its original Yenko-added Muncie M-21 four-speed transmission, Positraction rear end with 4.10 gears, and power front disc brakes. The Muncie M-21 transmission comes courtesy of the COPO 9737 order number, which also equipped this Deuce with the F-41 suspension system, which added a front and rear sway bar, as well as a 12-bolt rearend and heat-treated ring and pinion. You’ll also find the traditional Yenko hood-mounted tachometer and special-order sport mirrors on the car.

There's nothing like a Yenko when it comes to American muscle cars and this one certainly shows how much of a timeless classic a Yenko Deuce can be 40 years after its production

This Deuce is one of just one of 175 produced, one of 122 four-speed cars, and one of only 35 Deuces finished in Fathom Blue, making it one rare find. With that being said, this Nova should sell for a pretty penny at Mecum. Three years ago, a Cortez Silver Yenko Deuce with optional COPO 9010 order LT-1 engine sold at Barrett-Jackson for $110,000. With this Fathom Blue Deuce being very similar with an original Yenko drive train, we expect to see a sale of at least $100k.
