
In 1970, the Monte Carlo was Chevy's introduction into the "personal coupe" market, one that had emerged over a number of years following Ford's introduction of the four seat Thunderbird in 1958. Based on the Chevelle's platform, the Monte featured front A-arm suspension, coil springs and even an SS454 option.
