We’ve always been big fans die-cast toy cars, whether they be Hot Wheels or Matchbox or some other knockoff brand. The cars are, simple toys that they are, are great fun, and in our youth they helped nurture our eventual obsession with automobiles. Still, there has been a dearth of classic,  Pro Stock and Trans Am-inspired toys from the days when muscle cars ruled the road.

That will all change soon though. Hemmings Auto Blog reports that in 2011, Hot Wheels 2011 Vintage Racing line will include a number of classic Trans Am and Pro Stock cars in their correct liveries.

Are you a fan of old-school Trans Am racing, but can’t afford a full-size replica of your favorite race car? Than these Hot Wheels are right up your alley. The Vintage Series will include about 30 different cars, which aren’t much more than stock die-cast cars. The big deal is that they are wearing their correct liveries, or the colors and advertisements that were on the cars back when they were real racers.

Among the offerings from the line of Pro Stock Hot Wheels will be Dick Landy’s HEMI Darts and ’70 Challenger, a ’73 Sox and Martin Duster, and Dave Strickler’s ’70 Camaro RS. As for the Trans Am cars, Dan Gurney’s ’68 Cougar takes center stage, along with AJ Foyt’s ’65 Mustang, and an AAR ‘Cuda. A number of other cars, like Richard Petty’s ’67 Plymouth NASCAR should help round out the line of cars. These cars will make a great stocking stuffer for the upcoming holidays.
