Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past month, you probably know that last weekend was one of England’s most celebrated motorsports events, the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Gearheads the world over come to Goodwood to participate in the brief-but-thrilling hill climb event up the Earl of March’s exceedingly long driveway.
Among the many participants this year was the wickedly powerful Hennessey Venom GT. The Hennessey team attached a camera to the back end during a warm-up run, giving us this great video of the Venom GT in action.
With three user-adjustable settings, the Hennessey Venom GT can pump out between 800 and 1,244 horsepower from its twin-turbo, 7.0 liter GM-supplied V8 engine. This video is all about horsepower as we get to listen to the sweet symphony of the Venom’s well-tuned V8 engine making more power than most of us could ever dream of.
To be honest, we expected to see more flames shooting from the exhaust tips, but in reality the Venom GT’s engine is so well tuned that hardly any fuel is ever wasted. Even so, we do get a few very gratifying bursts of flame at the very beginning and end of that video. This video is well worth watching.
