When we say this ’68 Fury Police Car replica over on eBay it instantly conjured up images of overweight and corrupt lawmen, slowing cruising the roads on hot summer nights while smoking Lucky Strikes and looking for the next scheme to hatch on innocent citizens. We’ll just have to blame that on watching years of movies at 2AM on TBS, as the Fury is certainly as innocent as can be.
This particular one actually started life out as a Fury III, but to do the police car conversion it had the exterior trim removed to downgrade it in appearance like that of a base model Fury. It has a 383 big block under the hood with a 2-barrel carburetor, automatic transmission, power steering and power brakes, air conditioning and an AM radio.
Obviously, the coolest thing about this Fury is the paint scheme, graphics, and light bar on the roof. The people that built the car laid down a coat of genuine Chrysler Spinnaker White and went through the interior completely including the seats, headliner, windlace, dashpad and package tray.
The real cop electronics are there as well and feature a Motorola radio head and microphone as well as a vintage radar unit. Better yet, the floor is carpet-less and sports a true cop car black vinyl floor mat. Likely the most important option is on the roof and is a vintage-correct Vis-A-Bar lightbar with a matching driver’s side spotlight!
