With the Ford GT, the Blue Oval has launched a new generation of high-performance vehicles that is sure to rekindle old rivalries and give birth to some new ones. Yet for a car that has been talked about at length, there’s still some key figures and specifications missing. Specifically, Ford hasn’t told us how much power and torque the new GT supercar will make.
Yet all the Blue Oval’s efforts to keep the Ford GT’s specifications under wraps may have been for naught, as a leaked screenshot from the upcoming Forza Motorsport 6 includes horsepower and torque figures for the Carbon Fiber supercar…and that’s not all that was accidentally revealed.
First let’s get to the good stuff. A tipster sent the above photo into Motor Authority of a purported Forza 6 screenshot of the star car, the Ford GT. And over in the specifications column we see its horsepower listed at 630, with 539 lb-ft of torque and a curb weight of 2,890 lbs with a 43/57 weight distribution.
If true, these numbers make GT the most powerful vehicle in the current Ford linrup (though still 32 ponies shy of the 2013-14 Shelby GT500, as well as one of the lightest. At under 2,900 lbs, the Ford GT weighs even less than a base-model Focus, and just a little bit more than a fully-loaded Fiesta. That means that for every horsepower made by the 3.5 liter EcoBoost, the Ford GT has to move just 4.6 lbs, an incredible power-to-weight ratio that rivals many European exotics. Assuming everything we’ve seen is legit, of course.
Considering the Ford GT is on the cover of Forza Motorsport 6 though, it’d be rather embarrassing if the basic power figures were wrong. So far all Ford has said is the GT will make over 600 horsepower. Is the magic number 630? Higher? Lower? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
