In just a few short weeks the 2016 Chevy Camaro is set to start arriving at dealerships across the country. When it does, it’ll be riding on the new Alpha platform and sporting two new engines, the 275 horsepower 2.0 liter turbo and the 455 horsepower LT1 6.2 liter V8. It’s new and improved from every angle, and we can’t wait to get our hands on one for some internal testing of our own.
Until then, we’ll have to make due the same way you do, by watching videos of other people driving the 2016 Camaro and living vicariously through them. The above video, taken from a test day at Michigan International Raceway, is chock full of that V8 sound we all know and love.
This is not a track for the weak hearted, and in days long past the Camaro would have had a lot more difficulty navigating the narrow, tight turns. The 2016 rendition of the Chevy muscle car has no such problems however, easily floating through the curves before confidently accelerating down the straightaway. Acceleration looks every bit as brisk as GM’s claimed 4.0 run to 60 MPH would imply, and just as importantly, braking manages to bring the action to a quick halt, just like they’re supposed to do.
We also get to see the 2016 Camaro’s all new interior on full display, including the bright infotainment touchscreen, gauge cluster, and steering wheel. The whole package appears to be head-and-shoulders above its predecessor, and since we’ve got at least another month before the first Camaros are ready for purchase, we all might as well kick back and enjoy a few more videos.
