Here in the digital age, it is easier than ever to get a high-dollar, high-profile build featured in any of the endless numbers of automotive magazines and blogs that come and go. Only the very best builds are able to rise above the rest of the clamoring crowds, and most of these builds aren’t worth the exaggerated asking price that comes with a few features or awards.
But it never hurts to ask, and there might be somebody out there who loves 1973 Pontiac Trans Ams enough to lay out $139,000 for this exemplary restomod on eBay. It has a long pedigree and lots of go-fast goodies for sure, and there’s over 130 watchers as of this writing. But will that translate into a six-figure sale?
The more you read about this famous Trans Am, the more likely that scenario seems. Owned by James Contos and built by Restore A Muscle Car out of Lincoln, Nebraska, this no-expense-spared build features a 700 horsepower 535 cubic-inch engine under the Trans Am’s hood. A Detroit Speed four-link rear suspension and Pro-Tour F-body front control arms and spindles add an extra layer of handling the production Pontiac never had. Four-wheel Wilwood disc brakes work together for optimal stopping power, and this Restomod Trans Am sits low, thanks to its aggressive suspension tune.
Exterior and interior modifications were kept minimal, preserving the original beautifully-styled lines of the ‘73. It was however mini-tubbed to accept wider tires and wheels, with custom Cerullo black leather seaters featuring an embroidered Trans Am emblem. There’s also LED headlight and taillight conversions for a touch of modern, with a Kicker sound system fed by a Clarion head unit and dual Kicker amps.
It’s the complete package, so much so that the outside doesn’t reveal much more than a nicely-cleaned Trans Am to the untrained eye. But is it six-figures good? You tell us. Check out the eBay listing here.
