Specialty Vehicle Engineering has announced the limited availability of its 2019 Yenko/SC Stage I and Stage II Camaro. Apart from the 2019 model’s refreshed styling, the latest Yenko versions aren’t much different from the 2018 models. Stage I offers 835 hp, while Stage II boasts 1,000 hp.
Regardless of the power output options, each Yenko/SC Camaro receives a custom-built engine that’s based on the LT1, stroked to 6.8-liters using a forged 4340 steel crankshaft, forged H-beam connecting rods, and forged aluminum pistons. The engine also uses the cylinder heads off the LT4 V8, which are CNC ported for increased air flow. According to Special Vehicle Engineering, both versions get custom superchargers but the Stage 2’s blower is 20-percent larger and thus provides 25-percent more boost.
Handling upgrades are courtesy of GM as SVE requires a 2019 Chevrolet Camaro 1SS or 2SS equipped with the 1LE package for the Stage 2 Yenko/SC. The Yenko makes use of factory features such as the magnetic ride control, electronic limited-slip differential, performance-tuned suspension with unique bushings, springs and stabilizer bars, and heavy-duty cooling system including engine oil cooler, dual outboard radiators, transmission cooler and rear differential cooler.
Exterior changes include a body-colored carbon-fiber hood with power bulge and non-functional scoop. Nine color options are available for the hood stripe and side stripes. Other exterior features include Yenko/SC decals, Yenko-branded brake calipers, Yenko crest badges, badges advertising the car’s horsepower rating, in addition to a functional 1LE rear spoiler that helps keep the rear end firmly planted at speed.
Stage I cars ride on five-spoke 20-inch alloy wheels in a gunmetal finish, while Stage II cars get the same wheels in black. Michelin PS4S summer tires come standard in a staggered fitment of 295/30 front and 305/30 rear.
The Stage I package costs $46,995, while the Stage II option is $66,995. Those prices don’t include the cost of a 2019 Camaro SS. Only 25 vehicles will be fitted with the 2019 Yenko/SC Stage I option and 25 vehicles will be fitted with the Stage II option. Each car will be numbered and include a Manufacturer’s Certificate of Origin.
The Yenko/SC Camaro is available to order at select GM dealers in the U.S. and Canada. The car is not emissions-legal in California and it is restricted to track-use only.
