One of the many grudges the automotive journalism community has had against Chrysler in the past few years is the lack of communication. Since Chrysler’s purchase by Cerberus, and then being taken under the wing of Fiat, not a lot of news has originated from Chrysler’s home in Auburn Hills. The new 2011 Dodge Charger Pursuit is a perfect example of this terrible-yet-continuing tradition.
AutoBlog found this video of the 2011 Dodge Charger Pursuit on YouTube. Chrysler hasn’t released any official information yet, despite an obviously eager public. What gives, Chrysler?
This amateur video appears to have come from the 2010 Police Fleet Expo West, at the Long Beach Convention Center in California. This is essentially a place for automakers to showcase their latest additions to police fleets around the country. You can bet Ford and GM were there, showing off their new cruisers, and apparently so was Dodge. They unveiled their new 2011 Dodge Charger Pursuit, which is a refreshed Charger with a new base V6 engine and heavier duty parts.
What baffles us is that Chrysler didn’t think to release an official press release of this unveiling. Where are the glossy new stats and information? Are they waiting to unveil the civilian version of the 2011 Charger first? If so, what is the hold up, as we have seen those vehicles on the set of the next Fast & Furious movie. It is all a little frustrating to be frank, if only because we want the new Chrysler to succeed. But to succeed, they don’t just need new products; they need people to know about these new products.
