For most sane people, a good burnout consists of a few tire-roasting seconds captured on camera by a friend with a nearby smartphone. YouTube is full of half-baked burnouts, and plenty of good ones too. But once you’ve seen one burnout, you’ve pretty much seen them all, right?
That’s what we thought too, at least until we stumbled across this flabbergasting video from the Land Down Under of a Holden HQ taking a burnout to the next level. The driver, Rodney Waters, literally burns down the unlucky bushes that happened to be behind the burnout pit.
This is a different kind of burnout fire from the one we saw a few weeks ago, where another Aussie was unlucky enough to blow a fuel or oil line, lighting a fire underneath his car. No, this supercharged Holden just winds up and lets rip, sounding like a jet turbine as it pushes air and smoke away with gale force winds.
And then comes the fire.
We’re not sure if he had a flamethrower attached to the rear car or what, but there is a lot of fire bellowing out of the back of this Holden. The car itself seems fine, but the bushes behind it quickly catch fire, and a bunch of firefighters have to run in to put it out. And then comes the real kicker…it was a supercharged sedan the whole time! Oh those crazy Aussies…
