Once upon a time, limousines were fairly infrequent cars, reserved mostly for Presidents, Prime Ministers, and dictators. These cars were always based upon pure luxury vehicles like Mercedes, Lincolns, or Cadillacs…but the last few decades has seen an explosion in limousine creativity. From Corvettes to Chrysler 300’s, there is nothing that American’s won’t turn into symbols of wretched excess.
That includes the Dodge Challenger. This weekend LA Custom Coach unveiled its Dodge Challenger stretch limo at the annual Spring Festival…and they’re already working on a second one.
The Dodge Challenger actually looks rather appropriate for a limosuine, or at least as appropriate as a muscle car can be. But since it is based on Chrysler’s LX platform, which underpins its full-size car lineup, this Challenger limo probably wasn’t much of a challenge from a builder’s viewpoint at least.
The Challenger limo was stretched over 140 inches, or about 11 ¾ feet, for a full length of 337 inches or over 28 feet in length. That is one long muscle car! The interior is appropriately swanky, with SRT colors and the new Dodge emblem emblazoned on the seats. We wouldn’t mind showing up at some fancy function in a Challenger limo. It’s better than a pink Hummer, that’s for sure.
