Often considered the pinnacle of law enforcement employment, the United States Secret Service is an organization charged with protecting the President, his staff, and tracking down those who would counterfeit American dollars. These are all important jobs, and Secret Service agents have a whole host of tools at their disposal to get the job done, including a fleet of high-powered HEMI Dodge Chargers.
But in an age of camera phones and social networking, not even the Secret Service is immune to scrutiny. Following the Columbian prostitution scandal comes this story from KSEE 24 News of a Secret Service agent recklessly driving his Dodge Charger on public roads.
The Secret Service agent captured in this amateur video was apparently on official duty as he weaved in and out of traffic on Route 77. The unmarked Charger is shown speeding and driving erratically before pulling over an SUV. After the SUV pulls over, the Charger then speeds off. Very odd to say the least. The Charger reached speeds of over 80 mph on a highway where the speed limit is just 55.
What happened? It’s hard to say, as they don’t call it the “Secret Service” for nothing. The agent was put on paid leave while an investigation was launched, though from the sounds of it the driver simply couldn’t resist the allure of a 5.7 liter, 380 horsepower HEMI V8. And who can blame him? Check out KSEE 24’s website to see the video in its entirety.
