The Pro-Touring movement, whereby classic cars and trucks are modernized with contemporary modern equipment, has come to dominate the automotive hobby. We’re not sure if it is because today’s cars lack style, or if the idea of having all the amenities of a modern car with classic looks is just universally appealing. But whatever the cause, it has led to an entire industry devoted to making old cars drive like new. 

At the forefront of this movement is ICON 4×4, a company that got started by upgrading the classic Toyota Landcruiser before moving onto Jeeps, Broncos, and “Derelict” automobiles. Fox News reports that their latest creation may just take the cake; a 1965 Dodge pickup project, which will make its official debut in a few weeks at the annual SEMA Show in Las Vegas.

Like many if ICON’s recent products, this new Dodge pickup project will do away with the stock and woefully obsolete chassis, and replace it with the chassis of a modern Ram 3500. The new Dodge will sport a 4.5 inch lift, and under the hood will be the unapproachable awesomeness that is the 5.9 liter Cumins diesel engine.

Naturally, the engine won’t be stock, as ICON plans to install a Banks turbocharger kit on the Cummins engine. This will reportedly make 975 ft-lbs of torque, a crazy amount of torque that can probably tear your house right off of its foundation. As such, ICON will only be building one of these Dodge pickups for now…but that could very easily change.
