That unofficial motto of the U.S. Postal Service has inspired generations of mail carriers to deliver their mail even through the worst weather. Even with modern technology available today, it isn’t easy to get the mail delivered on time. So how did they do it 75 years ago?

In the isolated community of Glendive, Montana, the local mail carriers were given a unique and enviable ride to help deliver their postage. DesertClassics.com is currently selling one of these rare and unique pieces of Amercan history, a 1931 Ford Model A modified with massive tires to help navigate the deep snows that often fall on this northern state.

This running and driving slice of Americana was redone by a professional outfit back in 1941. As you’ve no doubt noticed, many pre-1940 cars are high off the ground, to help clear unpaved roads that were common back then. But this ‘31 Ford goes much farther, wearing massive tractor tires that required some serious fender modifications.

The rear differential came from a Ford Model TT truck, providing better gearing for these huge tires. From there, this mail truck was all swagger. It’s hard to imagine any snow drift that this hot rod swamper couldn’t conquer. While the asking price of $58,000 isn’t cheap, this is a remarkably well-kept piece of history. With some spit and polish, you’ll have the coolest car at just about any car show.
