To say that the new Chrysler and Dodge lineup of vehicles is vastly improved is an understatement. Compared to the cars of just a few years ago, every Chrysler division is like an almost entirely new car company. Yet there is still one gaping hole left in their lineup, and it is the lack of a large convertible car.
Leave it to the aftermarket to step in with a solution. Droptop Customs has just rolled out their latest convertible conversions of the new Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 sedans, reports Carscoop. Just what the world needs; a convertible four-door American muscle car.
Droptop Customs has worked its magic on Chrysler LX cars before. When Chrysler failed to deliver a Challenger convertible (despite reportedly building a test mule that was eventually crushed), Droptop Customs stepped in with their own take on a convertible Dodge muscle car
This time though they focused on the big American sedans known as the Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300. Without a roof, Droptop Customs was forced to add some serious structural reinforcement, such as adding strut bars to the trunk. But the result is a four-door musclecar that gives you wind in your hair and optional HEMI power.
It’s a sweet ride to be sure, though we can understand why Chrysler avoided making convertibles. The market for droptops has been steadily shrinking, and the cost to produce these cars on a custom basis is sure to be staggering. But it is definitely a unique ride, and a conversion worth considering if you want to really stand out at the next car show.
