The widebody look gained popularity with American muscle cars during the Trans Am era. After seeing these widebody race cars dominating the competition on the track, many car customizers sought to bring this racing look to the street. Alas, most widebody body kits are just that; body kits that fail to take advantage of the wider wheel track that affords real race cars even greater cornering ability.
But this fact wasn’t lost on the tuners at Ultimate Auto, who put together this stunning widebody Dodge Challenger SRT8. The 405/25R24 rear tires on this beastly badass are twice as wide as the tires on many economy cars. That’s kind of crazy.
This is one of the few show quality rides where we don’t mind that the engine went all but untouched. With a 470 horsepower HEMI V8, this Challenger SRT8 is already a formidable muscle car. So the fact that Ultimate Auto focused solely on making a better looking vehicle is alright by us.
Naturally the widebody kit is the focal point of this Challenger, allowing those huge tires to dominate any booty shot. But there are other changes that are just as important to the overall look, including 24-inch rims, wider vented fenders, and new front and rear bumper covers. We also love the shaved door handles and the subtle decklid spoiler.
But we still can’t pull our eyes away from those massive tires. How much wider can they get?
