As one of the embattled Big Three, Chrysler admittedly has the hardest hill to climb when it comes to winning back consumers. Where once Chrysler stood for luxury and style, over the years the brand has been handed back and forth between European car powers, finally falling in with Fiat. But could this alliance be just what Chrysler needed to bring back the luxury we once associated with the brand?
This latest video from Chrysler certainly seems to push home that point, reminding us not only what Chrysler used to stand for, but what America still stands for today.
Chrysler has a very important place in the history of the American automobile. From the stylish sleds of the 1950’s to the street legal race cars of the 1960’s, Chrysler the company has given us some of the most memorable cars ever. But what about Chrysler the brand? Throughout the ‘90’s, Chrysler seemed to languish and want for a new level of luxury, and it got that from the German company Daimler, owner of brands like Mercedes. That European confidence gave Chrysler a boost, but lately the brand has been down and out again it seems.
Now Fiat has arrived to infuse seem Italian style into the brand, and it seems to be working. The new 300 is simple, stylish, and promises an abundance of luxury. But will it be as well remembered as the classic Chryslers that so populate the video, or will it become another victim of Chrysler’s lack of style? You decide.
