In the mid-1960s, Carroll Shelby and a group of his friends purchased 200,000 acres of land around Terlingua, Texas, a little border town they used to raise hell in. Eventually Shelby founded a technical school and a racing team for Terlingua, creating a Mustang legend as well as the famous black-and-yellow rabbit logo designed by Bill Neale.

Today real Terlingua Mustangs are few and far between, but Dallas Mustangs has started a small program to put modern replicas back on the road. So far just four of these restomod Terlingua DM-450 Mustangs have been built, and one of them is up for grabs on eBay.

Item number 271272426156 is based on a 1966 Mustang coupe that has been completely restored and modernized from the ground-up. Not only does it boast the badass Neale-designed Terlingua logo, but also a 450 horsepower Ford Racing 347 crate engine backed by a World Class T-5 manual transmission. A Be Cool 4-row aluminum radiator and Currie 9-inch rear end back up the drivetrain, which is probably even more potent than Shelby’s original Trans-Am racer. It’s even signed by the master himself, Carroll Shelby.

But the most important modifications were to the suspension, which received hand-built custom components as well as parts from big names like Koni, Global West, and Pro Motorsports. These components are far better than what the original Shelby Terlingua Mustangs came with, allowing for precise and exact control of this modern classic. The interior also received a 21st century upgrade, offering comfort and convenience.
