In the year 1900, Horace and John Dodge founded the Dodge Brothers Company with the intent of supplying precision engine components to a fledgling auto industry. By 1914 their company was successful enough to make the move into a full-scale automaker, selling more cars than any other company except for Ford from 1916 until 1920, and it wasn’t until 1928 that Chrysler brought Dodge into its growing brand portfolio.
So technically, 2014 marks 100 years of the Dodge brand as an automaker, and to celebrate this historic brand will get two upscale anniversary models based on the Charger and Challenger.
The 100th Anniversary Edition Charger and Challenger will get a unique High Octane Red Pearlcoat paint job and celebratory 20-inch chrome wheels to help them stand out from the crowd. The $2,200 package also adds either black gauges in the Charger, or white gauges in the Challenger, with both models getting the 100 mph market highlighted in red.
Red or black leather seats are included in the package, which will be offered on both V6 and R/T models.Dodge will be limiting sales, though by how much they didn’t exactly say. Oh, and to top it all off, there are special plates that say “Dodge Est. 1914” on the seatbacks, so your passengers know just how special your ride really is.
