Most of the people who bought a Buick Grand National knew right away that this was a special car. Something different. Something rare. Something to be treasured and taken care of. That’s why to this day, many Grand Nationals still have a formidable price tag, and even average-condition ones can command a price higher than you might think reasonable.

But this beat-up, busted-ass 1987 Buick Grand National needs all kinds of work, and the asking price is an incredible $15,000 according to the Kansas City Craigslist ad. This has to be one of the worst Grand Nationals in the country, and we’re sure someone would love to bring it back to it’s glory… if the price wasn’t so ridiculous.

Where do we start with this poor, haggard beast of a Buick? It’s obviously been left exposed to the elements and neglected for some time. At least one front tire is flat, the hood is bent, probably by a forgotten tool, and the paint is peeling off every which way. It’s just not a pretty sight, and even an optimistic restoration professional would have their work cut out for them.

But the worst part of this whole post is the price. $15,000 will buy a lot of cars, and while the value of Buick Grand Nationals has indeed risen in the past few years, there is a LOT of work that needs to be done to make this car roadworthy; you’re probably looking at close to $10,000 in paint and body work alone. And considering it won’t get up to highway speeds (per the posting), there’s bound to be some engine or transmission work to be done as well.

First: what possesses people to neglect a car like the Grand National this way; and second: does the seller realize that his car is a total mess? $15,000 is a lot of money for a car that needs so much attention, Grand National or not!
