The success of New GM has been book-ended in particular by rising sales at both Buick and Cadillac. Cadillac in particular has seen its excellent line of luxury sedans attract buyers from across many different brands. Not only that, but Cadillac has rolled out some truly stunning concept cars in the past couple of years, chief among them the Ciel Concept.
Now Cadillac is teasing an all-new “glamour” concept that it says will debut sometime in 2013. While it is hard to make out exactly what we are looking for, from what little GM reveals, it looks all good to us.
Automotive News reports that this latest concept was “revealed” this past weekend at the annual Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance event, though Cadillac representatives had little to say. They did mention nostalgia, how they would be looking back not for design influences, but to find out what once made Cadillac a worldwide luxury icon. No doubt Cadillac lost its way for awhile, but the new breed of GM luxury cars is great, and getting better.
What this next Caddy concept might be is totally up in the air. The Ciel Concept, with its twin-turbo V6 and hybrid powertrain was a big hit, but this next car looks more like a coupe. It could be the long-rumored Cadillac version of the Chevy Volt, but with more performance aspirations than its bowtie-wearing cousin. Maybe it will be powered by the new Gen V V8?
Those are all good possibilities, or it could be something totally new and so high-tech that we can’t even imagine what it might be. But we sure can’t wait to find out.
