The AMC Pacer was atrocious back in the 1970’s; it’s a car that should never have been built, and it doesn’t look any better today. But when you go all-out and perform a level of modifications that transform the bug-eyed, bubble-topped piece of ugly into something worthy of a show-car trophy, then top it off with a gorgeous blonde for your ebay listing, you’re sure to garner much more interest than if you didn’t take the time to do so.
Not only has the exterior of this car been completely transformed with a sweet black hue accented with turquoise rally stripes, there is a set of 15×15 deep steelies stuffed under the back thanks to a narrowed 8 3/4-inch rearend riding on coil-overs, ladder bars and big wheel tubs. A huge cowl hood covers the 360-cube AMC engine that’s been topped with a B&M supercharger and a pair of Mikuni side-draft carburetors
A single kit of nitrous is also onboard, but we have no idea how well the little 360 would hold up to boost and squeeze at the same time. The supercharger whine and Flowmaster exhaust rumble through the short headers salvages the whole works, as the Pacer in any iteration would never be called pretty.
Inside the car, there’s a roll bar and a set of racing seats to go with the full gauge package and Pro Stick actuating the 727 Torqueflite transmission. Power steering, disc brakes, all of the tricks of the 1980’s are on full display in this example of wretched excess. Then again, if you’ve got a soft spot for Pacers and have been dying to own one with all the bells and whistles, maybe this car is for you. Blonde not included.
