The recent economic collapse has left a lot of people living in houses they can’t afford surrounded by possessions they don’t need. A lot of these houses have fallen into disrepair, and a cottage industry has popped up buying and repairing these distressed homes. Sometimes treasures large and small can be found in these abandoned homes, though this may be one of the biggest treasure troves found in a long time.
Bangshift reports that a Seattle craigslist posting claims to have found five, count ‘em FIVE numbers-matching, mid-60s Chevy big-block muscle cars. Whoever owned these cars definitely had a type.
The craigslist ad relates a story of a co-worker who came across a house listing for sale with five classic Chevy’s included in the sale. The eventual buyer purchases homes and renovates them, and he bought these five Chevy big-blocks in the garage along with the house. He hit the motherlode.
Let’s start with the 1965 Impala four-door with a 325 horsepower 396 V8 backed by a three-speed auto. There are also two 1966 Chevy Caprice coupes, one a 427 big-block with a four-speed manual and the other a 396 fastback with an automatic. There’s also a ‘67 El Camino with a 396/automatic combo, though arguably the grand prize is the 1966 Impala SS convertible with the 396 V8 and an automatic transmission.
All of these cars, except for the 427 Caprice, are numbers-matching vehicles, and that isn’t all. There are many NOS parts, includ classic hubcaps and wheels, up for grabs as well. This is a veritable big-Chevy grab bag, a real once-in-a-lifetime find.
